Sonia Augustine

Born in 1943, in San German, Puerto Rico to Paco and Celia Pagan. At the age of 13, she moved to Glen Cove, NY with her parents and sister, Amleia. Sonia graduated from Glen Cove High School and married Robert Augustine. Sonia moved to Keene NY, where she spent most of her life with Robert and her three children.
Sonia worked for the Keene Central School System for many years. In 1986, she went on to work for the New York State Police where she retired in 2006. After retirement, Sonia moved to Canton, NY where she spent several years.Sonia enjoyed her retirement. She liked spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the company of her loyal pets, Reilly, Bolo and Queenie.
Sonia was survived by her son, Joseph Augustine and his wife Linda, Her daughter, Christina Adams and her husband, Stephen, Her daughter in law, Teresa Augustine. Her beloved grandchildren, Casssandra Nickerson, Jonas Adams, Lydia Adams, Allison Keogh and Elizabeth Strum. Her nieces, Deborah Camplone-Layne, Dawn Camplone -Negron and Diane Camplone-Parker. A brother in law, Harry Augustine and his wife, Marie.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) and her son, John Augustine and her sister, Amelia.
It was Sonia’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in her honor to the Potsdam Humane society.
A celebration of Sonia’s life will be held on Sunday, July 8th 2018 from 2-4 pm at Desperado’s MexiQuinn Restaurant in Lake Placid, NY
