Raymond L. Dominy of Ashley Road in Plattsburgh, died on April 28, 2024, at Meadowbrook Healthcare. Raymond was born on May 23, 1930, the son of Harry F. and Hazel M. (Stafford) Dominy.
Mr. Dominy worked for John LaPan Sons from 1948 until the closing of the business in 1982. After serving two years in the United States Army, Ray continued working for John LaPan Sons as an assistant manager. He was also the final charter member of the Beekmantown Fire Department, serving as Assistant Chief between 1959 and 1970.
Mr. Dominy was a 70-year member of Fraternal Lodge #155 of the Free and Accepted Masons of New York. He was very proud of his masonic duty. He was also an active member of the Plattsburgh chapter of the Elks Club for 46 years and for many years he was a participant of the Elks Club bowling league on Saturday nights. Service to others was at his core and this was shone as he was the caretaker for the Beekmantown Cemetery for 60 years.
Mr. Dominy was fortunate to be one of the honorary members on the Honor Flight on September 1, 2018. He was so proud to be able to attend and spoke constantly of this honor.
Everyone will always remember Raymond as a man that was more than willing to help you out with any issues, or to have something fixed. As you drove by his house, he would always be working outside, whether it be fixing a car, repairing a lawn mower, or tending to his cattle on his small family farm.
Raymond always had a special sense in repairing things, you could always count on Ray to "fix it".
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor (Chevalier) Dominy; brothers Ronald S., Harold R., Malcom W., and Gerald H.; and his son-in-law David J. Burleigh.
Mr. Dominy is survived by his daughters Carol Burleigh of Plattsburgh, Marilyn Dominy of South Carolina; and his son Scott Dominy and his wife Johanna (Connick) Dominy of Plattsburgh; his brother Russell O.
