Mark Finnell, Sr., age 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 9, 2026. He was born on May 5, 1951, in Plattsburgh to Dennis Finnell and Lucy Maurice.

From a young age, Mark discovered a love for bowling, spending countless hours at the lanes perfecting his game and enjoying spending time with his friends and family. His enthusiasm for the sport was matched only by his devotion to his prized Trans Am cars.

Mark enjoyed visiting all his relatives that he dearly loved, leaving a lasting impression on all of them. He had a keen interest in military history, dedicating time to learning and sharing stories about the past with those around him.

To those who knew him, Mark was the embodiment of warmth and good humor. He was rarely seen without a beer in hand, ready to toast to good times and share a laugh. His longtime commitment to others is shown by his work as a color mixer for 28 years at Imperial Mill. His friendly nature and welcoming smile left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lucy Finnell; his brothers Clayton Finnell, Lee (Pauline) Provost, Donald (Pat) Provost, Elmer (Grace) Provost, Edward "Dubbie" (Shirley) Provost, Roy "Nippy" (Betty) Provost, Arnold "Petty" (Pauline) Provost; his sisters Inez (Ray) Pelkey, and Geraldine "Jellybean" (Bill) Martineau.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Osier) Finnell; his son Mark Finnell (Jessica) and their two sons Gage and Conner; his daughter Shannon and her two daughters Hannah and Abigail; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh. There will be no formal services, but this will be a time for family and friends to gather to share stories and memories.
