Leonard P. Duquette, Jr., 67, of Oak Street in Plattsburgh, passed away December 23, 2015 at the Star Farm Nursing Home in Burlingotn, Vt. He was born in Platttsburgh on October 1, 1948 son of the late Leonard P Duquette Sr. and Anna (Harrison) Duquette.
Leonard served 21 years in the Army, where he earned the following:
Recruiter Ring, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Num 2, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal 6th AWD, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Num 3, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 3rd OLC, Bronze Star Metal, Republic of Vietnam. Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Service Stars, Overseas Service Bar -2, Driver and Mechanic Badge Driver with bar, US Army Gold Recruiter Badge Three Sapphire Achievement Stars. Leonard later retired in 2009 from the Town of Plattsburgh Water & Sewer Dept. after 19 years. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, puzzles and of course umpiring but most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Deborah McNally Duquette of Plattsburgh, three children; Nicole Duquette her husband Michael Poquette of Plattsburgh, Leonard P Duquette III of Plattsburgh, Matthew Duquette his wife Nisha Duquette of Morrisonville, three grandchildren; Matthew Svarplaitis, Lexi-Ann Duquette and Charleston Duquette.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday January 4, 2016 at Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM in the Heald Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
