Gail LaPier

On September 30, 2025, you left as a whisper into the cold morning air with family at your side. Leaving behind 93 years of life and memories.

Born Galeska "Gail" Emma Terpstra, on March 15, 1932, in Gaastmeer, Friesland, Netherlands to Martin and Susie (Eckhof) Terpstra. Falling in line as the second oldest of 4 children; Charlie, John, and Ann. In 1949 the struggles of a post-World War era pushed the entire family to immigrate to America by way of Canada. Ultimately the family settled in Utica, NY.

Once in Utica Gail met her future husband, Donald LaPier. They moved to Plattsburgh, NY and married on March 2, 1957. They started their own family of 8 children and enjoyed 65 years of marriage together until Donald's passing in February of 2023. Gail is also predeceased by her parents, three siblings, son Walter LaPier, and daughter Julie LaPier.

Over the years Gail always enjoyed the company of her feline companions and always loved her "kitties". She also enjoyed playing Bingo, baking, canning and raising her family.

Gail is survived by her children; Donna & Jim Gogg, Andy & Karen LaPier, Debby & Dave Defayette, Paula LaPier, Judy LaPier, Charlie & Penny LaPier, and Marvin & Rosie LaPier. This is to also include 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law Joyce Terpstra.

At Gail's request there will be no calling hours or services.
