Francis E. Carter

Francis E. Carter, 79, passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2021. He was born on April 24, 1942, the son of George and Mildred (Lucia) Carter. Francis was one of eleven siblings all of which predeceased him Robert, Eugene, Shirley, Leward, Patricia, Jaquelyn, James, Nancy, Harley Wayne, and Susan.
Francis leaves behind his wife Mary (Wilson) of 57 years, his children Christina (Richard) Turcotte of Stark, NH, and Jody (Tracy) Eggleston of Saranac, NY. His grandchildren Joshua (Blair) Eggleston, Brianna (Eric) Fast, and Amie Eggleston, a great-grandson Avery Carter Eggleston, a second great-grandson (baby Fast) arriving in December along with several nieces and nephews, and two sister in-laws Gloria Carter, and Sally (Charles) LaMora. He also leaves behind a very special friend Ann Quintin of Milton, VT.
Francis graduated from Dannemora H.S. in 1962 and entered the U.S. Marine Corp. He served from 1962-1965. Francis worked for Velan Valve for 38 years when he retired in May of 2007 to enjoy his free time playing golf and watching sports.
There will be visitation at St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 24, 2021, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Military burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
