Donald Slyman, of Plattsburgh, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 7, 1953, in Malone, NY to Earl Slyman and Beverly Goodrich, Donald grew up with an adventurous spirit and a love for the outdoors that shaped his life.
In his younger years, he was known as an avid fisherman, spending countless hours along the streams and lakes of northern New York. His passion for the outdoors extended to camping, and he cherished time spent at Silver Lake and Bunchberry Lodge on Chazy Lake, creating memories with friends and family around the campfire.
Donald dedicated 34 years of his life to Georgia Pacific as an adjuster and mechanic, where he was valued for his hard work and commitment. After his well-earned retirement, he continued to serve his community by working with Meals on Wheels for 15 years, delivering not only meals but also kindness and companionship to those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Earl Slyman, Jr. and David Slyman; his brother-in-law Bill Proper; and his wife Janet Slyman.
Donald is survived by his longtime partner, Vicki Tolosky, who shared many wonderful years by his side; as well as his son Jamie Ormbsy; sisters Mary Proper and Tammy Slyman; brother-in-law Roy Pickering and sister-in-law Sandy Pickering; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Those serving as pallbearers are Jamie Ormsby, Roy Pickering, Ronald Vann, Donny Alexander, Jim Matthews, Jeff Baker, and Matt Tolosky.
Services were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
