Deborah Mattox

January 18, 1952 — March 11, 2024

Deborah Ann Mattox, 72, of Cutting Road, Lewis passed away peacefully in her home on March 11, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with heart disease and stage four metastatic cancer.

She was born on January 18, 1952 in Elizabethtown, NY, the daughter of Allen and Eleanor (Smith) Dickerson.

Deb graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central school in 1970 and attended NCCC. While at ELCS she played trumpet in band, dance band, all-county band, sang in the choir and all county choir. Deb also coached the cheerleading squad for a few years while working at ELCS. She retired from Elizabethtown-Lewis central school.

She was a very creative lady and loved doing crafts while making things for others. She opened her business, Adirondack Craft Sheds, and made beautiful craft items for sale and gifts for several years, her latest hobbies were scrap booking and making homemade soap.

Deb really enjoyed dancing, listening to music and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing games and doing puzzles. Her amazing smile, laugh, and love will be remembered fondly by many she has touched throughout the years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Allen (Diney) and Eleanor (Ellie) Dickerson; her brother Terrance (Terry) Dickerson; and sister Cynthia (Cindy) Carlson.

Deb leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Thomas Mattox; her sister Kathy (Rick) Bassett; her children Becca (Kenny) Sweat, Seth Luppy and Morgan Mattox; five grandchildren, Madison (Cory) Daly, Ellie Vanderhoof, Bryant Rowe, Jaxson Thorpe, Emma Thorpe; and two great-grandsons, Daxson and Miles Daly, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Deb's wishes there will be no formal services.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Deb's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN., 38105.

The family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice for the great care and support especially Morgan, Robin and Lauren.

There will be a celebration of life for Deb on April 6th, 2024 at the Wooden Nickel in Lewis at 2:00 PM.
