Brian Trumbull

March 9, 1961 — September 20, 2025

Brian Trumbull, 64, born on March 9, 1961, to Robert Trumbull and Esther Ryan, in Keene Valley, NY, left us peacefully on September 20, 2025, after his courageous battle with leukemia at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.

Brian spent 25 years of his life as a Corrections Officer for the New York State Department of Corrections, from 1982 to 2007. After his retirement he worked for the Au Sable Club in Keene Valley as a green's keeper for the golf course. In his younger days, he worked for Whiteface Mountain building trails for the 1980 Winter Olympic games, and he was also involved in the Au Sable Forks Fire Department as a teenager.

Outside of work, Brian was a passionate man with a love for life. He played fastpitch softball, golf and basketball. Brian loved deer hunting, and cherished the moments spent bird hunting with his sons and nephews along with his beloved bird dogs. He enjoyed long motorcycle trips on his Harley and everywhere he went was always an adventure to remember. He was an avid skier at Whiteface Mountain where he taught all of his children to ski. One of his favorite pastimes was boating on Lake Champlain, where he found the most joy and made the most memorable moments with his children. He had many cherished moments at campsite 6 on Valcour Island, a special place for him and his family. No matter the activity, Brian's greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones and a very large bonfire.

Brian is preceded in death by his brother Bobby and his wife Margaret Trumbull, and his brother-in-law Jack Liberty, as well as his parents.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sarah Trumbull; his children Maria (Rick) Hurteau, Levi Trumbull (Amber McDowell), Phil Schoonmaker, Calli Fitzwater, Cohen Fitzwater and Bransen Fitzwater; and his cherished grandchildren, Sophia and Lily; as well as his siblings Kathy Feitshans, Bill (Michele) Trumbull, Connie (Bill) Voss, Bernie (Doreen) Trumbull, and Cindy Liberty; as well as 15 nieces and nephews, and 31 great-nieces and great-nephews. Brian's family was his world, and he will be dearly missed by all.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
