Bernard Julius McCoy passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabethtown, New York, son of the late Lester and Mary (Reynolds) McCoy

Bernard (Uncle Bun) proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Alaska. He returned to New York, raising his family in the North Country, sharing his love of the outdoors.

He retired from International Paper. His lifelong love of hunting, wildlife, auto racing, politics, nature, feeding birds, beekeeping, keeping up with news, and current events kept him busy.

Bernard is survived by his children: Randy (Christine) of Franklin, KY, Darryl (Amy) of New Russia, NY, Leilani McCoy, and Cory (Deanna) of Schuyler Falls, NY. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. His siblings: Curtis (Ann) McCoy of Schroon Lake, Leslie (Margaret) McCoy of New Russia, and Lena Seeley of Schroon Lake, and preceded in death by siblings: Glennrita Pecore, Elizabeth Venner, Elton McCoy, Joyce McCoy, Lester McCoy (Jr), Thomas McCoy, Robert McCoy, and Paul McCoy made up for a busy childhood.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club. Military Honors will be presented promptly with fellowship following. Bernard's memorial stone will be at Essex County Veterans Cemetery at a future date.
