Bernard Duso, Sr.

Bernard Harold Duso, Sr., of Elizabethtown, passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 5, 1947, in Saranac Lake, NY, to Harold Duso and Erika Ransom. Bernard spent his life dedicated to his family, community, and his work as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Elizabethtown.

Bernard shared a beautiful 58-year marriage with his beloved wife, Linda, whom he married on February 11, 1967. Together, they raised three children: Salle Duso, Bernard "Boo" Jr. (Julia) Duso, and Heidi (Cathy) Duso who cherished the memories created with their father. He was a devoted Pa to Erika Duso, David Duso (Jaci Labatore), and Breanna (Alan) Thompson; and great-pa to Bailee Thompson, he was also looking forward to the arrival of a great grandson.

Throughout his life, Bernard was an active member of the Elizabethtown Fire Department, where he served with honor for many years. He had a passion for the outdoors, often spending his time hunting, fishing, and camping. His love of horses was well-known, as he delighted in giving wagon rides at weddings and parades, sharing joyful moments with his horses and those he loved. One of the highlights of his life was a cherished cruise to Alaska with Linda, celebrating their 40th anniversary. Their travels took them to memorable places such as Newfoundland and Hawaii, where they created lasting memories together.

Bernard was a loving companion to his dogs, Wiggles and Coco, who brought him endless joy. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the warmth he brought to every life he touched. He cherished his aunts Joyce and Ida and his nephew Jon. He spent time with his brother in law and sister in law Milo and Edith Rand.

A memorial service celebrating Bernard's life will be held at the United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown on June 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

Services were entrusted to Heidrick Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, NY.
